The Childhood Museum is a temporary museum created by the artist Tatsuo
Inagaki in collaboration with residents of Killer Street, Aoyama, Tokyo.
Inagaki conducted a series of in-depth fieldwork research about the street,
interviewing those living or working there about their lives, relationships
with the place, and memorable things that had happened in the area. The
results are presented in the form of a unique museum featuring texts,
images and videos.
These perspectives of the area’s long-time residents are
intended to draw back the veil on the lesser-known day-to-day aspects
of this renowned
fashionable street. We hope that the museum will become a place for
people in and outside the region to get together, exchange ideas
and memories,
and ponder upon their relationships with their hometowns and loved
ones.
This project is made possible with the generous support of the Asahibeer
Arts Foundation and the Japan Arts Fund.
